John was the son of Jean George Bossler and Catherine Geoffroy. He was born in Petit Eich, Reding, Moselle, Lorraine, France. He emigrated to the United States aboard the ship Bayard with his father and step mother Marie Barbe Ansett Bossler. There were nine children on board the Bayard, five from his father's first marriage and four from his father's second marriage. The Bayard arrived in New York on December 31, 1832.

John Bosler, a well known and respected resident of Dingman township died at his home on Monday morning, at about 4 o'clock, from the combined effects of heart disease and kidney trouble. He had been ill only about two weeks. Deceased had always lived in Dingman township, where he tilled the soil as a means of livelihood. Over a half century ago, Mr Bosler was married to Mary Ann Williams of this place, who departed this life in December, 1894.

Deceased was the father of twelve children, ten* of whom survive, eight sons and two daughters: William of Sawkill; George of Milford township; Theodore, Samuel and Albert of Dingman township; Charles of Dingmans Ferry; Joseph of Butler, New Jersey; Edward on Montrose, Pa; Mrs. Kate Roloson of Equinunk, Pa; Mrs. Emily Hartig of Montrose, Pa. He also leaves four brothers and one sister; Joseph of Montague; James of this village; Okus and Charles of Syracuse; Mrs. Mary Barnard of New York.

The funeral was held from the homestead yesterday, Rev. W. B. Neff officiating, Interment was made in the family burying ground. (Family plot located on the Cliff Park Golf Course, Milford, Pike, PA)

*John J Bosler and Mary Ann Williams were married Nov 24, 1842 in Pike County, PA. His obituary omitted his living son Martin. His son that predeceased him was Nicheolas.
