Alexander H. Borthwick of 334 Irvine Pl died Thursday, Aug. 24, 1939, after an extended illness. He was a member of the North Presbyterian Church, Union Lodge 95, F & AM.; the Masonic Club, Elmira Chapter 42, RAM; Southern Tier Council 16 R & SM; St. Omer's Commandery, Knights Templar. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Corning Consistery. Mr. Borthwick is survived by his wife, Elisabeth Rogers Borthwick; a brother, M. C. Borthwick of Vineland, N. J.; a sister, Miss Grace Borthwick of Elmira; a nephew, Wesley Rogers of Elmira. The body was removed to the Smith and Fudge funeral home and will be taken to the family home late Thursday afternoon. The funeral will be held at the family home Saturday at 2 p. m. The Rev. W. H. Willits. Woodlawn Cemetery.
