Mrs. R. M. Borthick

Funeral services for Mrs. R. M. Borthick who passed away at St. Anthony's hospital, Dodge City, Friday, were held here Monday at the First Presbyterian church with Rev. W. C. Templeton of the Dodge City, Presbyterian church and Rev. F.E. Black of the Newton church in charge.

A similar service had been held Sunday afternoon at the Dunsford Funeral Home where Dr. Templeton had used as a sermon theme the resurrection of Christ and the assurance it gives of life beyond the grave.

The many friends of Mr. & Mrs. R. M. Borthick attended the service held in Newton. The hymns were sung by Mrs. Leonard Nelson, Mrs. Amos Graybill, S. A. Brown and Francis Dunkelberger with Miss Kathryn Thomas at the organ.

Interment was in Greenwood cemetery in charge of Duff and Son. Friends serving as casketbearers being : J.W. Clawson, Fred Thomas, C.F. Kiser, AmosColvin, Harold Lewis and J.B. Cushing.

Mrs. Borthick was born in Wamego, Kansas forty eight years ago. She and Mr. Borthick were married at Arkansas City, October 11, 1911 by Rev. George O. Nichols paster of the Presbyterian church.

During their residence in Newton while Mr. Borthick had a run out of Newton as a Santa Fe Engineer, she was active in the work of the Presbyterian church, in theEastern Star of which she was a member and of the railway and club Organizations.

She is survived by her husband and son Robert, Two sisters, Mrs. Mary V. Walton of Arkansas City, and Mrs. Getta E. Payne of Los Angeles and a brother, F. W. Murray of this city.
