Eleanor G. Borrett, 89, died Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at Mill Pond Retirement Community in Ankeny, IA where she resided. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, May 21, 2006 at Cedar Crest Cemetery in Jesup, IA.
Eleanor was born March 18, 1917 in Jesup, the daughter of Roy and Vera Eck. On January 1, 1936 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Borrett in Jesup. Kenneth and Eleanor had lived Lincoln, NE for 22 years, Ankeny for several years, then Bella Vista, AR for 30 years. Eleanor remained in Bella Vista after Kenneth's death in 1990 and returned to Ankeny 5 years ago. Eleanor was an avid painter of nature and loved arts and crafts, (jewelry, decoupage, macramé, etc.) She made and designed hats for women. Eleanor had been in several bridge clubs over the years and enjoyed playing golf and volunteering in the community.
Eleanor was preceded in death by husband, Kenneth; parents; three brothers, Donald, Kenneth and Wendell, who was killed in WWII; and two sisters Reba and Cleone.
She is survived by daughter, Kay (Jerry) Nelson of Colorado Springs, CO; son, Kenneth (Kay) Borrett of Ft. Collins, CO; sister, Roberta Cochran of Mitchellville, IA; brother, Keith Eck of Knoxville, IA; four grandchildren, Susan Nelson-Hayward, Joel Nelson and Tad and Jack Borrett; three great grandchildren, Ryan, Jeffrey and Lauren Borrett; and many nieces and nephews.
