Juan Francisco, a native of Santa Cruz and resident of Pojoaque, was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Teresa Bustos; daughter Carmen Seitz; parents Juan C. Borrego and Lucia Montoya; brother Gilbert Borrego; sisters: Trinidad Espinoza, Ascension Barth and Christina Valerio.

Juan was survived by his daughter Dolores Borrego Jacobs; sons: John S. Borrego (wife Catherine Montoya), Christopher M. Borrego (wife Gail Dunlap), Edward Borrego, and Nathan Borrego (wife Karen Kellovich); grandchildren: Sabrina Salvato of Santa Fe, Whitney Ryan Jacobs of Maryland, Andrea Jacobs Denzien of New York, Jason Borrego of Albuquerque, Johnathan Borrego of San Diego, and Sarah Abeyta of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren: Gabriel Denzien and Sophie Abeyta; additional grandchildren and great-grandchildren by marriage: Jason Dunlap his wife Michelle and children Brock and Brooke; Danielle Dunlap and daughter Kayla Mendoza; Joshua Romero; Jeremy Romero and his son Jude; sisters: Lydia Lopez of Fairview, Petra Martinez of Las Vegas, Nevada; Amelia Lobato of Albuquerque; and srveral nieces and nephews.

Juan graduated from Holy Cross Catholic School (K-12) where he was Center on the basketball team. In 1942, he enlisted in the US Army Air Force and was stationed in Lavenham, Suffolk, England; where he was a Staff Sargent with the 839th Anti-submarine Squadron, 487th Bomb Group, until the end of World War II. Upon returning from his military service, Juan married Teresa Bustos. They made their home in Pojoaque and had six children. Juan worked hard all his life beginning with his job for the Port-of-Entry weigh station in Pojoaque. He went on to a career as a fireman for the Atomic Energy Commission at Los Alamos and retired in 1976. He began a sand and gravel hauling business during that time that grew into a full time operation by the time he retired from Los Alamos. Juan retired from the hauling business in 2005, but he remained active and involved with family and friends until the day before he passed away.

On 5 Jan 1942, Juan F. Borrego (B: 20 Aug 1920, Santa Cruz) enlisted and entered into service with the US Army Air Force in Santa Fe. He was described as 5' 11", 122 pounds, brown eyes, black hair, and an engine man. He qualified with the M1 Carbine. On 11 March 1943, he departed to Cuba and arrived on the same day. On 14 Aug 1943, he returned to the United States. On 23 Mar 1944, he departed for the European Theatre of Operations and arrived on 3 April 1944. He served as a Supply Tech with the 863rd Bomb Squadron. He participated in the Normandy, Northern France, Central Europe, Rhineland, Ardennes, Air Offensive in Europe, and Anti-Submarine Campaigns. He was awarded the Army Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-Africa-Middle East Campaign Medal, and World War II Victory Medal. On 26 Aug 1945, he returned to the United States and arrived on 31 Aug 1945. On 19 Nov 1945, Francisco (service #18-067-852) was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant at Drew Field, Florida and issued a lapel button (WD AGO Form 53-55).

Public visitation and Rosary were on 23 Feb 2016 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pojoaque. Mass of Christian Burial was on 24 Feb 2016 also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pojoaque. Interment followed in Santa Fe National Cemetery.
