A. F. Borcherding funeral services held Thursday
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 20 at St. Mark American Lutheran Church, Kansas City, for former Sumner resident, Alfred F. Borcherding, 57 who died suddenly March 17 at Kansas City.

Rev. Henry Allen officated at the services and burial was in the Mount Moriah Cemetery in Kansas City.

Alfred F. Borcherding was born on February 7, 1912, the son of Henry Borcherding and Minnie Block Borcherding.

He was baptized by Rev. Herman Bredow and was confirmed by Rev. C. J. Mardorf in St. John American Lutheran Church in Sumner. Mr. Borcherding graduated from the Sumner Public High School with the class of 1929.

On June 25, 1935 he was married to Ora Eggleston at New Hampton. They resided at New Hampton, where he was employed in the A & P store for a short time. He then became associated with the J. R. Watkins Co., and was employed by that firm for 28 years. He worked his way up from dealer to branch manager, which position he held at Columbus and Barbeton, Ohio, and since 1957, in Kansas City, Mo.

Two years ago his health began to fail and he was forced to do less demanding work. Before his sudden death on March 17, 1969, he worked as a salesman for Industrial Chemical Laboratories.

Survivors include his wife Ora; two sons, Dr. Harlan Borcherding of Eureka, Mo., and Larry of Overland Park, Kansas; one daughter, Sandra, at home; his father, Henry Borcherding of Sumner; five brothers, Werner, Fredericksburg, Athur, Emil, Erwin and Leslie, Sumner; three sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Elsie) Albrecht and Mrs. Clarence (Emilda) Niewoehner, Sumner and Mrs. Herbert (Edna) Kempin, Waterloo; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother on January 21, 1969.
