Funeral Tuesday
Funeral for Corinne Boots, 81, of 29th Street and formerly of Georgetown, Ky., will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Myers Funeral Service, Reed and Jewell Chapel on 25th Street, with the Revs. H. Posey Gaines and Joyce Castleman officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday. Burial will be at the Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Bartholomew County or the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
Mrs. Boots died at 6:50 p.m. Friday, July 31, 1998, at her daughter's home in Columbus.
She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, the Naomi Mission Circle and the Fireside Sunday School Class, the Kentucky club and the Azalia Home Study Club. She was a special child caregiver for many years, taught kindergarten classes at the church, helped form the first Mission Circle at Shiloh Baptist Church, and also volunteered at Stepping Stone School, which her granddaughter attended. She attended Georgetown High School in Georgetown, Ky.
Mrs. Boots was born in Scott County, Ky., June 22, 1917, the daughter of Porter Wallace and Elizabeth Ellen Robinson Wiley. She married Wilmer E. Boots in Lexington, Ky., July 22, 1933. He died Nov. 4, 1997.
She is survived by daughters, Gloriana Richards, Jean Wheeler and Jacqueline Speaker, all of Columbus; a son, George Boots of Middletown; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Katherine Havicus; and a brother, Ruby Allen Wiley.
