Donald E. Boothby, 87
SCARBOROUGH -- Donald E. Boothby, 87, of Scarborough and formerly of Saco died Monday, July 16, 2007, at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough.

He was the husband of the late Doris (Oppel) Boothby.
He was born in Biddeford, on Sept. 29, 1919, the son of the late Irving and Florence (Estes) Boothby and the stepson of the late Annie (Martin) Boothby. Donald was a graduate of the Thornton Academy in Saco.
He was employed by Central Maine Power Co. as a stations maintenance manager for many years until retiring in 1981 at the age of 62. He was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran serving from April 24, 1942 through 1945.
Mr. Boothby was a lifetime member of the Scarborough Lion's Club where he held all available offices including president. He was a member of the CMP Old Timers and was a charter member of Troop 39 in Scarborough. Donald was union president for seven years straight for the I.B.E.W as well as acting as the business manager. He was also a member of the Police relief Association and worked for both the Beech Ridge Speedway and Scarborough Downs.
He is survived by two sons, Stephen D. Boothby of Alfred, and Richard M. Boothby of Saco; one daughter, Donaleen B. Clark and her husband Roger of Scarborough. He also leaves two grandchildren and five great- grandchildren, Nikki Bridges and her husband George and their children Britney, Dylan and Cole, Nathan Clark and his partner Sandy Sargent and her children Evan and Kienna.
Donald's family would like to make a special mention of the excellent care he received over the many years at Maine Veterans Home. His family thanks you all.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday, July 18, from 7-9 p.m. at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 19, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Sally Poland officiating, also at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home. Burial in Dunstan Cemetery, Scarborough will be held at a date and time to be announced.
