Ovalo, Texas -- Enoch Jackson "E. J." Booth, 85, died Saturday, October 27, 2007, at his residence.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 28, 2007, in Tuscola Cemetery, with the Reverend Ray Biggerstaff officiating, directed by Fry - Bartlett Funeral Home in Tuscola. The family will receive friends prior to the service Sunday, from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
E. J. was born July 10, 1922, in Willard, New Mexico, to George Armor and Blanche Laramore Booth. He was a professional rodeo cowboy before serving in the U.S. Army three years during World War II. He married Martha Caudle April 19, 1945, in Welch and was an oil field worker for more than 40 years in Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas. He was a member of Lawn Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Enoch Jackson Booth, Jr.; two brothers, Robert Booth and Calvin Booth: a sister, Mattie Booth Lowery; and a granddaughter, Elaine Booth.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Martha Booth of Ovalo; one daughter, Sissy Booth of Ovalo; two sons, Clyde Booth and wife Joy of Lawn, and Larry Mitcham of San Angelo; one brother, Granville Booth and wife Ruby of Slaton; two sisters, Lucille Driver of Midland and Faye Gibson and husband Jimmy of Lubbock; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Moak and his staff for their wonderful care.
