Daughter of Frederick Boose (1823–1908 ) and Maria Broughton Boose (1821 - 1923) of Boose Hollow, Delmar Township, Tioga County, PA. She first married William Kriner (1835 - 15 Jul 1881). After 1870 census, William and Rachel moved to Stillwater, MN, by 1875 MN Census; but she returned to Tioga County PA after William's death from tuberculosis in 1881. Parents of: Mrs. Laura E. Kriner Herrington (? - ?), Frederick Elmo "Pinky" Kriner (20 Nov 1876 - 12 Dec 1946), and Arthur Kriner (1880- ?). She then married Private John L. Boatman (1849 - 13 Mar 1906) in 1899, but he died of pneumonia. She then resided with her son Frederick until her death and interment in Boose Family Burial Ground.
