Dora (Autem) Boore, 87, of Parsons, formerly of Altamont, died at 3:40 a.m., Thursday, June 14, 2012, at the Parsons Good Samaritan Society.

She was born August 23, 1924, near Strauss, Kansas, to Walter and Martha (Reich) Autem. She grew up in the Strauss area where she attended New Hope School, was a 1941 graduate of McCune High School, and a 1942 graduate of Parsons Business College.

For a time, she served as Labette County Treasurer. In the early 1960s, she began employment as a bookkeeper at Twin Valley Electric Cooperative in Altamont where she later became the first female Rural Electric Cooperative manager in the state, retiring in the mid 1980s. Following retirement, she worked for the City of Altamont and, in 1995, began working for the Bath Funeral Home in Altamont, which later became Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home where she worked until retiring in 2006.

In earlier years, Dora enjoyed making ceramics and being involved in her children's activities. In latter years, her greatest pleasure came when spending time with her three great-grandsons whom she adored.

She and Walter Rex Boore were married in March of 1947. He preceded her in death in May of 1962.

Survivors include: One Son – Walter Boore and Theresa Roach Clarkston, WA Two Daughters – Rexanna Sanders and husband, Bill Lawrence, KS Linda McNeil Dallas, TX One Grandson – Ryan Kasson and wife, Stephanie Parsons, KS One Step-Granddaughter – Kelly Brady and husband, Matt Asotin, WA Three Great-Grandsons – Dakota Kasson, Hunter Kasson and Ryan Kasson, Jr. Two Step-Great-Granddaughters – Brenna Brady and Erynn Brady One Brother – Wayne Autem and wife, Carol Parsons, KS Two Sisters – Vera Lea Mercer and husband, Wayne Lawrence, KS Hattie Turkington and husband, Ray McCune, KS


In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father, Walter Autem, on January 24, 1961; and her mother, Martha Autem, on January 10, 2007.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in McCune Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to The 506 Foundation, Inc. to be used for music and journalism student scholarships or the Good Samaritan Society Garden Fund. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
