Peter the son of William J. Booras and June W. Booras of Watertown New York, the dear nephew of Cliff Sharp of Black River New York entered service (Selective Service) in the US Marine Corps on January 26 1966 in Syracuse NY. In Vietnam he was assigned to and served with H&S Company, 1st Battalion, 3d Marines, 3d MARDIV (Rein) FMF.

During the month of August the Battalion Command Post was located near the village of Ap Loc Hoa several kilometers west of DaNang providing security and patrols on the west approach to the DaNang Airfield.

On August 22, during perimeter watch on the "Radio Hill" relay station near the Command Post a case of grenades exploded. PFC Peter Booras who was on perimeter watch was killed from the multiple fragmentation wounds he sustained.
