Betty Jean Boone, age 68, of the Plum Branch Community, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 9th, 2015 at the John F. Keever Solace Center. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Dewey and Irene Johnson Pate and the wife of the late Roger Boone, who passed away in 2004. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Ricky Pate. Betty Jean was a member of Plum Branch Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for a number of years.

Surviving is her sons: Rodney Boone and wife, Beth, Randy Boone and Teddy Boone and wife, Linda, all of Plum Branch; brothers: Jr. Pate and wife, Becky, of Windom and Louie Pate and wife, Trish, all of Burnsville; sister, Jan McKeehan of Prices Creek; grandsons: Michael Boone and Dustin Boone and nephews: John and Joe Pate and Matthew and Mark Carroll.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14th in Plum Branch Baptist Church. Pastor Scott McIntosh and Rev. Kelly Bryant will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
