Survivors include a son, Allen Northrup of Ajo, AZ; grandchildren, Mrs. Harold (Stacy) Snellen and children, Haley and Adrian, all of Tucson, AZ, Michael Northrup and his wife, Rose, of Tucson, AZ, and, Mrs. Alan (Wendy) Gilden of Chandler, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Floy Boone; and a daughter-in-law, Lydia Northrup.
Verda was a graduate of Kahoka High School and was employed in Kahoka by the telephone company for many years. She enjoyed music, playing the piano and organ for her own entertainment. She care about children and was always interested in what was going on in the county through her weekly newspaper. She had a special love for birds and would nurse back to health injured birds that people would bring to her. She had a good attitude about life and a caring heart.
Graveside services were held Monday, February 23, 2004 at 10 a.m. in Kahoka Cemetery with Rev. Dick Clifford officiating. Visitation was held one hour prior to services at Wilson Funeral Home. Memorials in her memory were suggested to the American Cancer Society.
