Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church in Porter for Mrs. Dellar Bookout, 73, with Reverend Ervin Neufeld, pastor, officiating. Burial in Porter Cemetery was directed by Mallett funeral Home of Wagoner. Pallbearers included Willard Webb, Hoyt Buckner, J. T. Wisdom, Connie Edwards, Billy Carl Yochum and Tom Buster.
Born, March 30, 1899, in Arkansas, Mrs. Bookout had lived most of her life in Wagoner County and had been a Porter resident for the past 60 years. She and her husband, John, operated the Porter Mill and Elevator for 18 years. She was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church and died Friday, April 14, 1972, in a Wagoner hospital after a lengthy illness. A grandson, Rex Brown, died in Vietnam in 1968.
Survivors include her husband, John Henry Bookout, of the home; two sons, Melvin and J. R. both of Okay; two daughters, Mrs. Alice Matthews of Wagoner and Mrs. Audia Lawrence of Porter and 14 grandchildren.
