Marlene A. “Liz” (Booher) Becovitz, 81, of Lafayette passed away at home on Thursday, September 18, 2014. Born May 24, 1933 in Lafayette, she was the daughter of the late Robert H. and Viola (Diersen) Booher. Liz was a 1951 graduate of St. Francis High School.
She married Joseph C. Becovitz on April 14, 1953 in Lafayette and he preceded her in death on February 6, 2003. She was co-owner and operator, with her husband, of Joe’s Delicatessen for 17 years and then worked as a clerk in Medical Records at St. Elizabeth Hospital for 5 years and then as an Executive Secretary at St. Elizabeth Hospital for 20 years. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. Liz’s hobbies included playing cards, yard work, and reading. She especially enjoyed spending time with family.
Surviving is her son, Joseph D. Becovitz (wife, Gina) of Indianapolis, her daughter, Becky A. Unland (husband, Roger) of West Lafayette, and three granddaughters, Christa Becovitz of Indianapolis, Tayler Howard of Westfield, and Jennifer Unland of West Lafayette.
