Survivors include two sons, Larry Bonrud, Spearfish, and Darrel Bonrud, Flandreau; one daughter, Charlene DeClerk, Garden City, Kan.; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Lester, preceded her in death.

Melba C. Bonrud, 88, of Dell Rapids, died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at Avera McKennan Hospice in Sioux Falls.
Services will be held Saturday, March 11, 2006, at 10:30 a.m., at Messiah Lutheran Church in Trent. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m., Friday, March 10, 2006, at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Flandreau. Burial will be at Oslo Cemetery in Trent with Pastor Marlin Vetter officiating.
Melba was born Dec. 7, 1917, at Hartley, Iowa, to Herman and Ethel (Kellem) Sass. She was baptized and confirmed at the United Church of Christ. Her family moved to the Garretson area in 1929, and she graduated from Sherman High School in 1935. Melba married Lester Bonrud on Nov. 11, 1939, at Pipestone, Minn. They farmed in the Flandreau area for 39 years and moved into Flandreau in 1978. Her husband preceded her in death on Oct. 15, 1998. Melba moved to Dell Rapids in 2002. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and WELCA.
She is survived by two sons, Larry (Mary) Bonrud, of Spearfish, and Darrel (Jean) Bonrud, of Flandreau; a daughter, Charlene (Glenn) DeClerk, of Garden City, Kan.; nine grandchildren, Pam Bonrud, of Sioux Falls, Lynne (Clark) Guthrie, of Pierre, Laurie (Eric) Gronlund, of Pierre, Paula (Rocky) Alexander, of Onida, Kris (Donnie) Thompson, of Buffalo, Minn,, Kari (DeWitt) Dominick, of Clyde Park, Mont., Kate (Colin) Bonnett, of Moscow, Idaho, Julie (Ted) Enstad, of Sioux Falls, and Darrel (Stefanie) Bonrud, of Flandreau; and 13 great-grandchildren, Karissa, Shelby, Halle, Kenzie, Zachary, Cade, Brooks, Jay, Hunter, Taylor, Josie, Garrett, and Hope
