FUNERAL RITES FOR GEORGE B. BONHAM TO BE HELD TODAY.

Former Steamboat Mate and Uncle of City Secretary-Treasurer Succumbs.

Funeral services for George B. Bonham, 60, native of Shreveport and for many years a steamboat mate on the Red and the Mississippi rivers, who died at 5 p.m. Wednesday after an illness of three weeks, will be held from the Roll Osborn & Sons funeral home on Fairfield avenue Thursday at 5 p.m. The rites will be conducted by the Rev. Charles L. Power, pastor of the Dunlap Memorial Presbyterian church. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jim McKethan, Tom McKethan, V. B. Brown, F. B. Brown, J. B. Hicks, Sr., and J. B. Hicks, Jr.

The deceased is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lessie B. Whitworth and Mrs. Belle Tanner of this city; a brother and niece, Gray Bonham and Lessie Bonham of Denver, Col., and a nephew, Tom Tanner, secretary-treasurer of the city of Shreveport.

Mr. Bonham was educated at the Thatcher Institute. He has been engaged in business and employed in the oil fields of North Louisiana and East Texas for the past few years. His father was Captain B. B. Bonham, who was one of the early pioneers of Southwest Louisiana and captained many steamboats between Shreveport and New Orleans into Jefferson, Texas.
