Alyne Padgett, 89, of West Bonbright Street, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at her home.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday (Feb. 23) at the West Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Padgett’s grandson, Pastor Champ Cox, member of Broadmoor Baptist Chruch, Shreveport, LA and Chaplain Andy Harris of Encompass Home Health and Hospice will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday at West Funeral Home.

Viola “Alyne” Bone Padgett was born to Burl Jefferson and Rhoda Ann (Terry) Bone on July 30, 1925 in Bard, New Mexico. She was raised in Porter, NM and moved to Carlsbad, NM in the early 1950’s.

Alyne worked as a hairdresser for many years. In later years she worked for Ray’s Fabrics. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed doing ceramics, quilting and gardening.

Alyne was preceded in death by daughter, Janela Burr, grandson, Jeffrey Martin and great granddaughter, Ruby Rodriguez.

She is survived by children: Carlyne Leos of Antioch, IL, Arthur Cox of Shreveport, LA, Phyllis Haas of Tulsa, OK and Ann Myers-Campos of Carlsbad, 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
