Eugene worked 35 years on the railroad for Union Pacific and Southern Pacific retiring in 1981 as a conductor. During World War II he served with the army in Panama and the Pacific. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. After his retirement he served as a volunteer for Deseret Industries and for Salt Lake County ageing services as an ombudsman, he visited assisted living homes. A life member of United Transportation Union. He served as Secretary and treasurer for the Jordan River Temple Chapter of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers. Maintaining a life long interest in Journalism he was published in many papers but never received compensation. Eugene was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings.
Survived by sons, Eugene Jr. (Kim) Bond, Springville, UT; Roger A. (Janice) Bond, Bluffdale, UT; daughter of Johanna, Annely (Vince) Fennell Bell Canyon, CA; daughters of Janine, Erin (Dave) Wells, Stanwood, WA; Rebecca (Danny) Ellefsen, Livermore, CA; Kathy (John) Grieco Hendersonville, NC; 2l grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, William Bond, West Valley City, UT; and sister, Sybil Momberger, So. Salt Lake, UT.
Funeral services will be held Tues., Feb. 28, 11:00 a.m. at the Summerhill Stake Center, 12120 So. 1300 W. Friends may call Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Broomhead Funeral Home, 12600 So. 2200 W. and Tues. one hour prior at the church. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
