WINSTED (Special) -- Elliott Bond, 68, of 75 Wetmore Ave., died Tuesday morning at his home.
He was born in Winsted, September 5, 1896. son of George and Jennie Christinat Bond.
He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church; collector of wamoam of Kebow Tribe of Red Men, a member of Clifton Lodge, IOOF, Crystal Rebekah Lodge, Tuttle Burns Post; Seicheprev Post, VFW and Winchester Grange,.
Played in Band
He retired as an employee of the Post Office after 37 years' service and worked at Smith Greenhouses. He played drums since he was 12 years old and had appeared with the Winsted Drum Corps and played piano and drums with local square dance orchestras. He was also a special policeman with the American Legion.
He was a veteran of World War I, enlisted in Winsted September 1, 1917 and served in France as a corporal with Company L, 394th Infantry and Co. B. 163d Infantry, He was discharged November 19m 1919 at Fort Dix. NJ.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Laura Ransom Bond; three daughters, Mrs. Frederick Topping of Anaheim, California, Mrs. Stewert Baxter of Riverton, and Mrs. Michael Levesque of Kansas City, MO and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church with the Rev. Robert B. Doing Jr. rector, officiating. Burial will be in Forest View Cemetery. Friends may ball at John J. Shea Funeral Home, 99 Wheeler St., this afternoon and evening.

Elliott Bond
Well-Known Local Man Succumbs at Home Today

Elliott Bond, 68, of 75 Wetmore Avenue died early this morning at his home. He was born in Winsted, September 5, 1895, the son of George and Jennie Christinat Bond.
He was a member of the St. James Episcopal Church, collector of wampum of Kekow tribe of Red Men No. 39, a member of the Clifton Lode No. 30, IOOF, Crystal Rebekah Lodge, American Legion Tuttle Burns Post No. 43, Seicheprey Post, VFW, WInchester Grand P of H No. 74.
He was a retired employee of the United States Post Office after 37 years of service and had assisted recently at Smith Greenhouses. Mr. Bond had played drums since he was 12 years old and appeared with the Winsted Drum Corps and played piano and drums with local square dance orchestras. He was also a special policeman withe the American Legion.
He was veteran of World War I, enlisted in Winsted, September 19, 1917 and served in France as a corporal with Co. L 304th Infantry and Co. B 103rd Infantry. He was discharged November 6, 1919 at Fort Dix, New Jersey.
Survivors include his wife Mrs. Laura (Ransom) Bond, three daughters, Mrs. Frederick Topping of Anaheim, California, Mrs. Stewart Baxter of Riverton, and Mrs. Michael Levesque of Kansas City, MO and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church with the Rev. Robert B. Doing Jr., rector officiating. Interment will be in Forest View Cemetery.
Friends may call at the John J. Shea Funeral Home, 99 Wheeler Street, tomorrow afternoon and evening.
