Josiah G. Bond served as a Corporal in Company F of the 16th Michigan Volunteer Infantry Regiment in the American Civil War.
He was killed in action on the slopes of Little Round Top on July 2, 1863, the second day of the Battle of Gettysburg.
He was initially buried on the south side of Little Round Top.
A needle case, a comb, and a letter were found on his body.
He enlisted on August 3, 1861 in Flint, Michigan as a Private.
He was mustered into Company C on September 7, 1861.
He was 27 years of age at the time of his enlistment.
He was transferred to Company F on an unknown date.
He was promoted to Corporal and Sergeant on unknown dates.
He had resided in Flint, Michigan.
