Mrs. Sallie Warren Peters Bolton, 85, of Barbourville, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2006 in the Knox County Hospital.
She was a daughter of the late James Clark and Maud Smith Warren born on February 26, 1921 at Fount. Mrs. Bolton was a former nurse aide with the Knox County Hospital.
She was a member of the Northside Baptist Church and enjoyed reading her Bible, knitting and working puzzles.
In 1938, she united in marriage with Hubert Peters and to this union nine children were born.
Later, in 1968, she united in marriage with James M. Bolton who preceded her in death on May 6, 2002.
Other family members to precede her death include five brothers, Grover, Crit, Cecil, her twin brother, Creed and Lloyd;
four sisters, Samantha, Mae, Onalee and Stella; and four grandchildren, Sharon K. Mills, James Lee Mays, Kenneth Peters Jr. and Billy Ray Smith. Survivors include her children, Alma Smith of Barbourville, Maudean Smith and husband, Willie, and Cecil Peters and wife, Shirley, all of Union, Kenneth Peters and wife, Ruth, of Crittenden, Freida Todd and husband, William, of Corinth, Margaret Ann Mills and husband, Don, and Carolyn Sue Bright and husband, Denver, all of Road Fork, Janice Bruner and husband, Jerry, of Maynardville, TN and Tammy Richmond and husband, Mike, of Barbourville; 25 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Billie and Virginia Bolton and Ellen Peters all of Barbourville; among other loved ones and dear friends who mourn her passing. Her funeral service was conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, October 21 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Bob Bunch and Rev. Rollin Bradshaw officiating. Mrs. Bolton was laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery. Casket bearers were her grandsons. Honorary bearers were Dr. Larry Warren, employees of Knox Co. Home Health, current and past employees of the Knox County Hospital, members of the Northside Baptist Church, Dr. Raymond Hayden, Dr. Harold Bushey, Cleo Hammons, Christine Hinkle and family and all friends and neighbors. Arrangements were under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
