RUDENE ELIZABETH STEPHENSON was born the daughter of Grace (Bell) and Otto Bolton, Sr. She was the sixth of eleven children. She was born in Oak Grove, Oklahoma on April 13, 1931.
She received her early education at Lincoln School in Wagoner.
Rudene met and married Eugene T. Stephenson in November of 1947 in Wagoner County, they shared sixty three wonderful years. They made their home in Okay, Oklahoma.
To this union ten children were born. Rudene joined the Okay First Baptist Church and served there many years. She later united with The Brushy Creek Baptist Church in Mazie, Oklahoma.
Rudene graduated at Bacone College with an Associate Degree in Nursing, continuing her education at Northeastern University with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. Rudene was also a member of the Wagoner Eastern Stars. She worked in private duty nursing, and was an active member of the Okay High School Board of Education. She was a loving wife, mother and sister of many families and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Eugene, two infant children and four sisters and four brothers.
She is survived by two sons, Pastor Roger Stephenson and wife Verdell of Wagoner, Oklahoma. Dale Stephenson and wife Peggy of Glenpool, Oklahoma.
Six daughters; Anna Seals and husband Michael of Inola, Oklahoma, Gloria Stephenson, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Dessa Stephenson of Aurora, Colorado. Trina Stephenson of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Gladys Cheeseboro and husband Kevin of Aurora, Colorado and Sandra Stephenson of Okay, Oklahoma. One brother; Kenneth Bolton and wife Madelyn of Buffalo, New York. One sister; Geneva Warren of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great- grandchildren along with a host of other family members and friends who will surely miss her.
Funeral services for Rudene will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 10, 2010 at the Antioch Baptist Church, in Muskogee, Oklahoma with Dr. B.W. Noble and Pastors; Clarence Ashley, Mark Williams and Roger Stephenson officiating. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Gibson Station.
Arrangements are under the direction of Shipman Funeral Home.
