Evelyn A. Bolling was born on June 30, 1934 in Bay Minette, Alabama to the late Leroy and Ida Lou Anderson. Evelyn earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Masters Degree from Alabama State University, Montgomery, Alabama in Elementary Education with a minor in Home Economics. She did further studies in Early Childhood Education at Faulkner State Community College and took several courses at the University of South Alabama, Mobile, Alabama. Evelyn's hard work and dedication to educating others extended over Fifty-Five years. Evelyn's career dates back to 1956 when she taught Grade 3 at Magnolia Elementary School, Moss Point, Mississippi for two years. She later transferred to Douglasville High School and continued to teach Grade 3 for many years. Integration of schools took her to Bay Minette Elementary as a 4th grade teacher, from there to Bay Minette Intermediate ending her teaching career in 2000. She taught Adult Basic Education for 5 years at Bay Minette Vocational School. Evelyn held memberships in the following professional associations: The Alabama Educational Association and the National Educational Association. She served on School Evaluation teams, Educational Workshops, and Seminars. She took part in various school improvement projects and several church activities including: Sunday School Teacher, Youth Director, Member of the Gospel Chorus, Trustee, Vacation Bible School Teacher, Program planner, and as Y.P.D. Director, just to name a few. Evelyn was qualified and productive as a teacher and public servant who prefers to be remembered as "One of the Quality Teachers". She will also be remembered as the most loving and caring person anyone will ever come to meet and know. She leaves to cherish her memories, husband Mr. Tommie E. Bolling; son, Brandon (Carolyn) Bolling, Bay Minette, AL, One sister Myrtle (Ruppert) Moody-Bailey, Springfield Gardens, N.Y.; Five loving nieces: Aundrey (William) Jenkins, Gaithersburg, MD, Marilyn (Bogard)Edwards, Union dale Long Island, NY, Monica (Larry) Johnson, Brooklyn, NY, Tracey (Mark) Lewis, Coral Springs, FL, and Efe' Gwyneth Moody, Springfield Gardens, NY; Two sisters-in-law: Betty Jean Bolling-Hale and Miriam Taylor; Two brothers-in-laws: Rupert Baily and Joseph Butler. Two aunts: Ruth Adam of Bay Minette, AL and Voncile Hale Hollis, Montgomery, AL., and Three god children: Daryl Martin, Isaiah Bryars, and Tonja McReynolds. Honorary Brother: Lemuel Means; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Devoted friends: Willie Thomas, Anthony Dickerson, Bernice Boykin, Wanda America, Leroy Williams, and Solomon Hooks (who stood by her side during the illness of her mother). A host of other relatives and friends. Her remains can be viewed at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home Friday, April 29, 2011 from 12-5pm and continued Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Trinity Chapel A.M.E. Church after 9:00am. The family will receive friends from 10:30 until the 11:00am funeral hour. Interment will follow in Mutual Aid Cemetery, Bay Minette, AL.
