All the records up to 1910 show Byron as Byron Bolles. I cannot find any records for 1920. The family of his wife Ellen Whitaker listed her as Ellen Bowles but all marriage and census records up to 1910 show Ellen and Byron Bolles. The name must have been changed after 1910.

After their marriage in 1870, they lived in White Oak, Mahaska, Iowa. In the 1880 census, they are still farming in White Oak area of Mahaska County, Iowa. The family is Byron, Ellen and two children listed as Hattie and J. G. Bolles and Byron's mother Delcenia Bolles who was 70 at the time.
By 1900, Ellen and Byron are living in Howard,Missouri. In 1910, they are in Oakland, Jasper, Missouri.
