OELWEIN MAN KILLED WHEN HIT BY CAR
Dwayne Boleyn, 47, of Oelwein was killed, Friday, when he was struck by a car while crossing U.S. 20 at a downtown Waterloo intersection, police said.
No charges were filed against the driver of the car, John Wolf, 23, Cedar Falls, but officers said the investigation was continuing.
Boleyn was taken to Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, shortly after he was hit, about 5 p.m.
Boleyn, who was employed at the foundry department of John Deere Co., in Waterloo, was retired from the U.S. Army as Sp. 5 Class with 20 years of service. He served in World War II and the Korean War, and was discharged in 1967. He had lived in Oelwein for the past eight years.
Funeral services are set for Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Brant-Kerns Funeral Chapel in Oelwein, with the Rev. Edgar Adair officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein.
Survivors include two sons, Frank E. Boleyn, Oelwein, David Boleyn stationed with the U.S. Army at Ft. Riley, Kansas, two daughters, Denise and Dawn both of Oelwein, four brothers, Sidney and Tommie, both of Oelwein, Ralph of Washburn, Roger of Waterloo, five sisters, Mrs. George Beahr and Mrs. Frank Erhardt, both of Waterloo, Mrs. Emmett Braley and Mrs. Ivan Braley, both of Kansas City, Missouri, Mrs. Russell Walker of Cedar Rapids, his father Tom Boleyn and his mother, Mrs. Fern Boleyn both of Oelwein.
