Died in this District on the 13th of April last, Mr. Britton Bolin, in the 73d year of his age. Where the deceased was born, we are not informed. We only know from some of the oldest citizens of our village, that they have known Mr. Bolin, as a citizen of York District from their earliest recollection. The deceased was remarkable for his personal strength … sent to the defence of Charleston in the fall of 1814 … reared up and leaves among us a large family.

Britten is the grandfather of Thaddeus Bolin (1831-1905), also buried in this cemetery as Pvt. Thaddeus Bolin.
