MRS. BLAKEMORE DIES AT HOSPITAL
W. B. Blakemore's Widow Ill Since Past Monday
Mrs. Kate May Blakemore, 82, widow of William Byron Blakemore, and a well known resident of Harrisonburg for over 50 years, died at 2:15 Friday afternoon at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Blakemore was extremely active for a person of her advanced years and enjoyed good health. She was stricken this past Monday afternoon at her home, 133 North High St., and was admitted to the hospital. She had seemed to be some improved and her death was unexpected by her family and her host of friends.

A daughter of the late James E. Bolen and Sarah Hopewell Bolen, she was born May 10, 1873, in the Mt. Solon community where she spent the early years of her life. On Oct. 20, 1892, she married William Byron Blakemore and following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Blakemore spent the majority of their life in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County.
Mr. Blakemore, a prominent livestock dealer, preceded her in death Dec. 27, 1941.
Mrs. Blakemore possessed a kind and friendly personality and enjoyed doing good deeds for other people. She was a devoted mother and a kind neighbor and friend who will be missed by many.
She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church, having united with the church in early girlhood. Since making her home in Harrisonburg she had united with the Asbury Memorial Methodist Church here.
FOUR CHILDREN SURVIVE
She is survived by three daughters, Miss Blanche Blakemore and Mrs. Claude (Sallie) Garber, both of Harisonburg; and Mrs. J. B. (Mary) Shearer of Washington; and one son, William Byron Blakemore, jr., of Falls Church. She also leaves one brother, John W. Bolen, of Harrisonburg; and five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A son died in infancy and a sister, Mrs. Elmira Thompson Caricofe, also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at three o'clock from the chapel of the Lindsey funeral home. Her pastor, the Rev. Walter M. Lockett, jr., will conduct the services and following the services the body will be placed in the Community Mausoleum in Woodbine cemetery.
The body now rests at the funeral home where friends and pallbearers are asked to meet Sunday afternoon. The relatives will meet at her late home, 133 North High St., Sunday afternoon at 2:40 where a brief service will be held prior to leaving for the funeral chapel.
