Alice J. Biggerstaff, age 77, of Huron, died Saturday, February 21, 2009, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home. Her memorial service was at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 28th at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Hunt officiating. Burial was at the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Alice Jane Boldt was born August 5, 1931, to August and Margaret (Brown) Boldt at Miller, South Dakota. She attended school in Miller through the eight grade. After school, she continued to live in Miller and cleaned houses.

On September 10, 1948, Alice married Albert Burgher. They later divorced.

On October 12, 1960, Alice married Sam Biggerstaff at Pipestone, Minnesota. After their marriage, they lived at Rochford, South Dakota. In 1967, Alice and Sam moved to Huron, where Alice cleaned houses for several people.

Alice enjoyed playing bingo and crocheting. She also took pleasure in listening, singing, and playing gospel music by piano. Alice was a member of the Women of the Moose in Huron. She thought the world of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sam; one son, Pete Burgher; one step-son, Jack Biggerstaff; one son-in-law, Jim Gibson; six brothers, Ronald, Paul, Harlan, August, Roland and Everet Boldt; and three sisters, Anna Wheelhouse, Margaret Hansen and Doris Boldt.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her two daughters, Peggy I. Gibson of Huron and Virginia Burgher of Miller; one step-daughter, Jan (Charles) Lee of Missoula, Montana; one brother, Clifford Boldt of Miller; one half-sister, Ruby McCool of Salem, Oregon; her special friend, Gale Wiberg of Huron; five grandchildren, Bret Burgher of Rapid City, Troy (Valerie) Burgher of Watertown, Jennifer Gibson of Huron, Brian (Debbie) Gibson of Baker, Montana, and Jennifer Ferguson of Brookings; three step-grandchildren, Tony (Kay) Lee of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Nikki Lee of Missoula, Montana and Kim (Steve) Mertz of St. James, Missouri; eleven great grandchildren with another one due in March, Skylar, Devon, Zachary and Kelsey Burgher, Cody and Nathan Burgher, Tristan Gibson, Ronnie and Marie Gibson, and Christopher and Chloe Ferguson; three step-great grandchildren, Brandon, Jordan and Christopher Lee; and several nieces and nephews.
