Mrs. Albert W. Bailey Claimed
Mrs. A. W. Bailey, 225 S. Park, passed away at the family home Wednesday afternoon. She had ben a Casper resident for 25 years.
Born Edna E. Boies May 4, 1883 in Illinois, she married A. W. Bailey, then superintendent of schools in Athens, Ill., in 1904. The family moved to Wyoming in 1913, living in Gillette after a daughter was stricken with polio. Earlier that year another daughter had died in an accident.
Mrs. Bailey became county superintendent of schools in Gillette, and initiated Sunday Schools in each school house. For 20 years she served as a member of the Board of Managers, Wyoming Baptist convention.
In March, 1917, the family established the Bailey School Supply because so many Wyoming school children were without proper books and equipment. Mrs. Bailey served as secretary-treasurer for 30 years.
She is survived by her husband, Albert W. Bailey; and four sons, J. Sam, director of Christian Education for Southern California Baptist convention; Howard, pastor of the Montclair Baptist Church of Denver; Walter, instructor at Casper Junior College; Paul, Casper fireman. There are 14 grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Baptist church, with Rev. H. Allison McHenry officiating. Arrangements are being made by the Horstman-Gay Mortuary.
