Mary Ann Bohn Bailey, of Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away May 20, 2008, in Austin, Texas. She was buried at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas. Born Mary Ann Bohn on July 14, 1929, in Chillicothe, Ohio, she was the only daughter of Frank Bohn and Catherine Lacey Bohn, who operated a grocery in town.
Like the rest of her family, she attended St. Peter's Catholic Church and was a graduate of Chillicothe High School in 1947. She married Richard M. Bailey at St. Peters in 1954. During her years as an Air Force wife, she spoke glowingly about her hometown, recalling CYO picnics, high school outings, the support her family received from the town when waiting to learn the fate of three of her brothers missing during the Battle of the Bulge, as well as her lifelong friends.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband of 53 years, Richard; her son, Mark Bailey, of Vancouver, Washington; her daughter, Linda Bailey Griesel and her husband, Chris Griesel, of Austin, Texas; and her daughter, Susan Fries and her husband, Gary Fries, of Victoria, Texas, and well as eight grandchildren. Mary Ann is also survived by her brother, Edward Bohn and his wife, Patricia, of Chillicothe; her sister-in-law, Mickie Bohn, of Kearney, Nebraska, as well as many beloved Lacey and Bohn nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents and by her brothers, Richard Bohn, Francis Bohn, George Bohn and Robert Bohn, all born and raised in Chillicothe.
