DORA PAULINE SCHNEIDER BOHL
Mrs. Dora Bohl, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a caring friend to all she met, passed from the embrace of her family to the arms of Our Lord on August 19, 1999. She will be remembered as a kind and gentle person who always strived to enrich the environment in which she lived as well as the lives she touched.

She was born on August 21, 1902, on the Schneider Farm east of Devine, Texas, to Mary Halbardier Schneider and Frank Xavier Schneider, and was one of six children. Dora was baptized on August 31, 1902 in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Devine, where she was a member her entire life.

Dora was preceded in death by her loving husband, Alex Bohl, and her son, George Bohl. Surviving members of her family include her daughters: Laura Maney, Adilene Bohl, Margie Irwin and husband Peter Irwin, Betty Ebrom and husband Charles Ebrom, and son Richard J. Bohl and wife Margie Bohl. She was blessed with 16 grandchildren: Kathleen Maney Ingram, Mary Frances Maney Lowrance, Barbara Gayle Maxwell, Tom Bohl, Steve Bohl, Alex Bohl, Jake Bohl, Dehn Bohl Stepp, Kelly Ebrom Kennedy, Lisa Ebrom, Christy Ebrom, Chris Irwin, Peter L. Irwin, Mary Irwin Wilson, Regina Irwin Jarman, Patrick Irwin, and 15 great-grandchildren.

Early in her life, Dora placed her trust in the Lord and He has been the force that brought her confidence and energy throughout her long life. Dora's family was her joy; but she spread her love and happiness beyond her family. She was a life-long active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and attended mass faithfully until just a couple of weeks ago when she was no longer able. She was proud of the 13 years she spent as the cook/housekeeper and confidante for the priests of St. Joseph's Church and of the 10 years she worked in the cafeteria at Devine Public Schools.

During this time, she was also the volunteer "master gardener" for the church. She was one of the first Eucharistic Ministers in the parish; she taught CCD classes, and she was active in the Christian Mother's Society for more than 50 years.

In 1977 she was awarded the Archbishop Francis J. Furey Medal "in recognition of exceptional service to the Catholic Church and to the community and for exemplifying good Christian conduct in personal life". In 1990 she was awarded a certificate from St. Joseph's Parish "in appreciation of devoted and invaluable services rendered to the parish".

Rosary was recited on Saturday, August 21, 1999, at 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home. Mass was celebrated on Sunday, August 22, 1999, at 3:00 p.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Interment followed in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Devine.
