Henry Bogue was born September 27, 1863, near New Castle, Indiana. Moving to Iowa in 1869, in a covered wagon, they settled near Dexter, Iowa, in Dallas County. Later they moved to Polk County, Iowa. He lived in and around Berwick, Iowa, practically all of his life with the exception of having lived in Des Moines, and Ankeny several years. He passed away at his home in Ankeny, Tuesday evening, July 30, 1940, at the age of 76 years.
He was married to Lizzie Davis in 1895, and to this union two children were born, Beryl and Beulah. Beryl preceded his father in death, March 13, 1928 in California. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, one daughter Beulah Crawford of Renwick, Iowa, and two granddaughters, Shirley Crawford of Renwick, and Mary Jean Bogue of Altadent, California. One brother Cyrus Bogue of Des Moines and one sister, Elva Henshaw of Rockyford, Colorado, besides a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held in the Congregational Church at Berwick, Iowa. Friday afternoon, with Rev. E. A. Elliott and Rev. Spidell in charge. Music was furnished by Mrs. Ray Sargent, Mrs. D. N. Essick, Mrs. E. D. Grigsby, L. E. Brewbaker and Wilbur Sargent. The pallbearers who were nephews of Mr. Bogue were: Ardrey Allen, Merwin Allen, Charley Bogue, Victor Bogue, Detlef Bogue and Florian Elliott. Burial was in the Berwick cemetery.
