At the time if their marriage Jesse was the father of seven motherless children; Oscar 19, Emma 18, Henry Clay 17, Freddie 14, William 12, Daniel 9, and August John 6.
The 1900 census records them living in Eliza Township. According to the record they have been married for 12 years and Cornelia is the mother of 4 children/3 living, but this is incorrect because Cornelia and Jesse never had any children. The family is listed as Jesse Bogart 71, Head of the house; wife Camelia Bogart 56. They have three children living with them; Augustus Bogart 18, who was Jesse's son by second marriage, plus grandchildren Earl Furgison 8 & Mamie Furgison 5. Earl and Mamie are two of Jesse's daughter Emma (Bogart) Ferguson's living children. I'm guessing Emma passed away before the census as her husband as remarried shortly after this census and the kids are living with him and his new wife in the next census.
Muscatine, Iowa, City Directory lists Cornelia and Jesse living there in both 1904 & 1907. They must not have liked it in Iowa because in the 1910 census they are living back in Eliza with their son Augustus. FAMILY #150 Agustus J Bogard age 28, Head, single, Farmer; father, Jessie Bogard 83, retired; step-mother Cornelia Bogard age 66, married 22 years, this census says she's the mother 0 children. Also with them is brother Dan Bogard 32, he is listed as a Barber of his own shop.
Cornelia died Feb 13, 1913 Jesse died the following year, out living three wives. They are buried in the Eliza Creek Cemetery.
