BRIDGEPORT — Edwin "Cleary" Boetticher, 71, of Flemington, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, while vacationing in Cancun, Mexico.
He was born in Wheeling, on April 8, 1942, a son of the late Edwin E. and Thelma (Cleary) Boetticher, formerly of Smithfield, OH.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Kathleen (Dagan) Boetticher. Also surviving are his son, Branden Cleary Boetticher and his wife, Joni; a grandson, Cole Boetticher, and another on the way; a daughter, Brooke (Boetticher) Hachat and her husband, Jeremy; a brother, Myron Boetticher and his wife, Trudy and two sisters, Joan B. Magill and Gladys Keener.
As a United States Army veteran, he was proud to have served his country overseas and was honored for the opportunity to help make our country great. Early in his career, he was a computer analyst for NCR, but later he worked hard as a self-employed businessman because that was an area where God used him in ministry. The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Cleary was one of those few workers who worked in obedience to Christ in all things. He was a husband who strived to love his wife as Christ loves the church and an understanding father who raised his children up in the way they should go. He was an incredible steward of the land he was given, planting seeds and God let them grow-harvesting the blessings that he was promised. He shone on earth like the brightness of the heavens because of his wisdom and continues on now as bright as the stars. With his gentle spirit and peaceful, countenance he was generous to others and brought joy to others merely by his presence and his laughter. The sound of his voice in song brought comfort and he was there to help in prayer and deed to anyone. He was a member, deacon and Sunday school teacher at Middleville Baptist Church, but most of all was proud to be known as a Christian who loved Jesus and was ready for the journey He took him on. His question to those reading this would be … "Are you ready?"
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Middleville Baptist Church, 1327 Middleville Road, Bridgeport, WV 26330 or Clarksburg Mission, 312 N. Fourth Street, Clarksburg, WV 26301.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. on Sunday, where services will be held at noon on Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, with Pastor Paul Boyles presiding. Interment will follow in WV National Cemetery.
