EMERY MILLS - Pearl E. Bodwell, 59, of Route 109, died Wednesday at Maine Medical Center, Portland, following a brief illness.
She was born in Shapleigh, Oct. 11, 1924, daughter of Joseph and Eva Sawyer Vachon. She attended Shapleigh and Sanford schools.
Mrs. Bodwell, who lived in Emery Mills all of her life, was employed by the former Goodall-Sanford textile mills, Sanford, and also worked for her late husband, Louville E. Bodwell, in the former Springvale Ice Co., Bodwell Oil Co., and Bodwell Sand and Gravel Co. She also worked for the former Aletta Dress Co., Springvale, and at the time of her death, was employed as a spinner by Jagger Mills, Springvale.
She attended local churches and was a former member of the Sanford Emblem Club.
Mrs. Bodwell is survived by two sons, Larry Bodwell of Kenduskeag and Robert Bodwell of Alfred; two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Candice) Letourneau and Barbara Bodwell both of Shapleigh; four brothers, Raymond Vachon of Violet, La., Thomas Vachon of Shapleigh, and Lawrence Vachon and Wilbur Vachon of Springvale; two sisters, Mable Carpenter of Shapleigh and Wilma Garland of Waterboro; and 13 grandchildren.
Services will be Sunday at 9 a.m. in the Heald Funeral Home, 61 Main St., Springvale. The Rev. James McAtee, pastor of the Sanford First Assembly of God Church, will officiate. Spring interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Springvale.
