Marlin Ray Bodkin, 75, of Brandywine, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, on U.S. 33 in Brandywine.

Mr. Bodkin was born Sept. 27, 1928, in Brandywine and was a son of the late Byron Bodkin and Fannie Catherine Hartman Bodkin.

He was a farmer for Eye and Craig Farms for 45 years and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Cedar Grove Church of the Brethren.

Surviving are his wife, Carol Lee Simmons Bodkin; three daughters, Fern Kline of Franklin, Elizabeth Hostetter of Hot Springs, Virginia, and Carol Ann Shiflett of Churchville, Virginia; two sons Neil Simmons of New Market, Virginia, and Terry Lee Bodkin of Franklin; three sisters, Erma Carter of Martinsburg, Elva Crouse of Dayton, Virginia, and Juanita Cowger of Baltimore, Maryland; three brothers, Billy S. Bodkin, Roy A. "Mickey" Bodkin and Bobby G. Bodkin, all of Brandywine; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by three grandsons, Doug Simmons, Jerry Shell and Nathan Bodkin; and one granddaughter, Brandy Shiflett.

The Rev. Harold Cullers and Bishop David Hartman conducted the funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. Burial was at the Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandywine with military rites by the Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard.
