BODETTE, Alvin Dennis, Sr. - Of Flint, age 91, died Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at his residence. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1PM Friday, November 2, 2007 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, G-3139 Hogarth Avenue, Flint, Father Robert F. Copeland officiating. Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation 11AM-2PM and 4-8PM Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Rosary will be prayed at 7PM Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Bodette will be at the church from 12Noon Friday until the time of the Mass. Alvin was born in Thomaston, Michigan on December 15, 1915, the son of Dennis and Alice (DuCharme) Bodette, and was a resident of the Flint area since 1935. He married Evelyn Yaklin on July 26, 1941 and she preceded him in death on March 6, 2005. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a participant in the 1936-37 Sitdown Strike and went on to serve as a committeeman for 18 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, football and especially his family. Mr. Bodette was employed at Fisher Body #1 for 41 years, retiring on January 1, 1977. Surviving are his 3 sons, Ron and wife Lana, Rick and wife Kim and Mike; daughter-in-law, Chris Willard; 4 grandchildren, Lynne DeWolf, Leesa, David and Shannon Bodette; 3 great-grandchildren, Geoffrey, Jarryd and Cory Thomas; many nieces and nephews.
