Ivadell Banks, age 95, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born in Petersburg, Michigan on May 26, 1917, to Vern and Alice Bodette. Ivadell graduated from Whitmer High School. She was employed for many years as a machine operator at Davis Paper Box.
Ivadell spent her life pursuing every opportunity to be useful and independent. She has been bowling in the Toledo Area since the early 1930's. She remained active in multiple leagues each week. Ivadell has spent many years of her life in a bowling center, generally helping others. She had been involved in all aspect of the bowling community including holding the office of secretary of one league for 32 years. Ivadell was "Thanked" from the junior bowling program for over 25 years of service. She continued to share her enthusiasm and her expertise with the youth leagues in her area, and she is fondly remembered as being able to tally scores faster than the computers at her favorite lanes. With all the times she spent helping others, she still found time to bowl herself. She traveled to many out of town tournaments, 30 plus states and 30 National tournaments. She was a score keeper for WIBC National tournament held in Toledo and worked many PBA tournaments. It was with great pleasure she was welcomed in the Greater USBC Association Hall of Fame in the category of Meritorious Service in 2007. She was proudest of her highest official score of 298, bowled on March 15, 1972, though she bowled many perfect games in informal circumstance.
Ivadell was a member of The Blade Traveling Queens for over 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vern and Alice Bodette; her husbands, Raymond Tasker and Kenneth Bank, and her siblings, Roy, Mary, Blanche, Grace, Stella, and Richard.
Ivadell is survived by her beloved family, Wayne (Judy) Bodette, Anita (Dave) Smith, Marlene Bodette, Jerry (Carolyn) Tasker, Sara "Sallie" Elwell and her many loved out of town nieces and nephews; sister, Alda Pickard and her beloved neighbors, Diane Dooley and Dana Zahn.
