Brothers Anton, Arnold, and Clemens Bockenstedt received national publicity when each, over ninety-years of age, decided to vote for Governor Alfred E. Smith based on the support of agriculture and willingness to admit the failure of Prohibition. Bockenstedt owned six lots and several buildings in New Vienna where he served as a school director and a member of the city council.
