Bock, Bennie Loyd 69, passed away December 7, 2010 after a 7 month illness. Bennie was born October 13, 1941 in Waco, TX to James Bock and Katie Marie Blundell Bock. He was a 1960 graduate of Lockhart High School, wh-ere he was a member of the football and golf teams. Bennie went on to attend college at Southwest Texas State University and the University of Texas until 1963, at which time he went in the US Army (ASA, Japan and Viet Nam). He was honorably discharged in 1967 and finished college in 1970, earning a BA from SWTSU. Bennie went to work in the insurance business, underwriting and marketing for Marine and Aviation Division with the Insurance Company of North America in San Antonio and Houston (INA later became Cigna). In 1982, Bennie left Cigna and went to work for Excess and Surplus Broker, dealing with oil and offshore risks having heavy contact with Lloyds of London. In 1985, he moved to Dallas and rejoined Cigna, working in Marine insurance as middle management, until their forced reduction in 1991. In 1991, Bennie married Elizabeth Mayes Merritt and started working for AT&T. He worked there for almost 15 years, retiring on February 26, 2010. Bennie enjoyed golf throughout his adult life, and was a member of various insurance societies, Bennie was also an active member of Grace United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bennie is survived by his wife of 19 years, Elizabeth Merritt Bock; her daughters, Casey Storment, husband Roger and Ashli Belfour, husband Ed; grandchildren, Hallie, Ella, Dayn, Reaghan and Adler; 2 sisters, Mary Kay Merka and husband Tony and Judy Menn; nephews, Greg Merka, John Merka, wife Cyndi and Russell Merka, wife Melissa; nieces, Jeanette Spondi, husband Jim and Deborah Chet-wood, husband Richard; great nep-hews and niece, Mitchell, Pete and Katilyn; and a host of friends. Services 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 10, 2010 at Grace United Methodist Church, 4105 Junius St., Dallas, TX 75246. Interment to follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas, TX. Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, Capital Campaign Fund.
