Mr. Merle Bobbitt, age 77 of Crockett, passed away Monday, December 15, 2003 at his residence in Crockett. Mr. Bobbitt was born June 29, 1926 in Grapeland and had lived in Crockett most of his lifetime. Mr. Bobbitt was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II. Mr. Bobbitt was a rancher and a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife Hesta Bobbitt, of Crockett; son Charlie Bobbitt and wife Robin, of Crockett; grand-sons Chance Bobbitt, of Crockett, Brad Bobbitt, of Dallas, Matt Bobbitt, of College Station and their mother Susan Barrett, of Crockett; sister Threasa Steed and husband Lacy, of Montgomery; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Preceded in death by his son Billy Merle Bobbitt; brother Buddy Bobbitt; sisters Iona Heath and Beulah Mae Mahaley.
Funeral services for Mr. Merle Bobbitt were held Wednesday, December 17, at 1:30 p.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jack Shoultz officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to charity of choice.
