Betty W. Boardman, 89, of Springfield, died Saturday August 16, 2008 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born February 26, 1919 in Odebolt, IA. the daughter of John Harry and Mildred O. Johnson Winstrom. She married Robert L. Boardman, June 8, 1940 in Springfield. Two sisters, Lucille Winstrom and Helen Higgs preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of Springfield Junior College and for several years taught school at Pleasant Plains and at Sand Hill School.
Betty was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Springfield Junior League, Springfield Art Association, International Visitors Commision, Sangamo Club and Panther Creek Country Club. She was a founding member of the Margaret Garfield Circle of King's Daughters and was a volunteer at Memorial Medical Center. Betty avidly followed was active in both local and national politics for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Robert L.; two daughters; five grand children.
Services at Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel with Rev. Eugene Bilotti officiating. Interment in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
