Mr. Albert Hix Boan, 80, of Springfield, Fla., passed away Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, at his home.
Mr. Boan had been a resident of the local area since 1967, moving here from Mobile, Ala. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Boan retired from Tyndall Air Force Base in 1982. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR and friends at AMVETS Post 2298. Mr. Boan also drove burned children to Shriners hospitals for many years. He was a member of the Shaddai Temple in Panama City, Fla.
Mr. Boan is survived by a daughter, Sharon Comerford and husband, Alan, of Albuquerque, N.M.; two grandsons, Capt. Lee Comerford and wife, Holly, of Langley Air Force Base, Va., and Brett Comerford and wife, Ashley, of Chesapeake, Va.; two great-grandsons, Ryan and Rylee Comerford; sister, Ann Prescott and husband, Byron, of Wetumpka, Ala.; brother, Willie Boan Jr. of Mobile, Ala.; and two nephews, Pete Prescott and wife, Beverly, of Wetumpka, Ala., and Jimmy Kennedy of Seabrook, Texas. Mr. Boan was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Ruth K. Boan; parents, Bill and Mildred Boan; and brother, Wayne Boan.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, at Pine Crest Cemetery in Mobile, Ala. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 25, 2008.
