Charles P. Boal, 70,of Fenelton, died at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital following a short illness.
Born August 4, 1922, in Kent, Indiana County, he was the son of Curtis C. and Helen E. Gerhart Boal.
He was employed at Union Carbide Corp., :Linde Division, in Kittanning for 32 years before retiring in 1982.
Mr. Boal was a member of St. John Roman Catholic Church of Coylesville. He was a life member of Chicora Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7876, the Happy Hunters sportsmen's Club of Fenelton and the Butler County Sportmen's Conservation Council. He was also a member of the Euchre Club, the Butler County Horseshoe League and the American Association fo Retired Persons. He was an avid hunter and was a well-known area gardener.
He served with the U.S. Army 65th Infantry during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel Waltman Boal, whom he married in Chicora on May 3, 1952; a daughter, Ellen L. Boal of Butler; three sons, Edward L. Boal of Fenelton and Curtis J. and Gregory C. Boal, both of Butler; a brother, Orville "Doc" Boal of Fenelton; a sister, Mrs. Leslie (Pat)Hutchison Jr. of Fenelton; four grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother. He was the Godfather of Stephen Phillips
