Eileen M. Blumenshine, 86, of Washington, Ill., passed away at 2:35 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, Ill., surrounded by her loving family.

Born on Sept. 13, 1924, in Washington, Ill., to Edwin and Margaret (Gunther) Hess, she married Emil Lee Blumenshine Jr. "Arkie" on Sept.17, 1949, in Washington.

She was preceded in death by her husband in August, 1960; brother, Robert Hess; sister, Evelyn (Hess) Meiser; sister-in-law, Dorothy Belsley; brother-in-law, Adam Blumenshine; and brother & sister-in-law, Ralph and Mary Blumenshine.

Eileen worked hard as a single mother to raise four boys after she lost her husband at a young age.

She loved baking, watching her game shows, playing bingo and spending time with her friends and family.

She attended Bay View Baptist Church in East Peoria and was a member the American Legion Post 100 women's auxiliary in Washington.
