In addition to his family focus, James loved his work and was highly respected by his peers in the Aerospace industry, working on orbital guidance and navigational systems for many aerospace companies including the Bendix Corporation, Space Com, Fairchild Industries, NASA and Goddard Space Flight Center, OAO, and finally, Orbital before retiring in 2009. Although James was quite modest about his many accomplishments, he was very proud of his work in the control center during many launches, often responsible for the success of the mission.
James Blue earned his engineering degree at Steven's Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey.
He will be greatly missed and always remembered. James Charles Blue was truly was one of a kind. James was preceded in death by his wife, Fay Grace Blue; daughter, Janice Blue Bench; parents, James Charles Blue II and Anne Kunz Blue; sister, Doris Coughlan; brother-in-law, William Coughlan.
He is survived by his sons, James Blue, and Robert Blue and his wife, Chryseis Blue; daughter, Laura Blue; grandchildren, Christina Blue, Lauren Blue, Katherine (Blue) Pontani, Kellie Blue; Rebecca Blue; and Robert Blue; and sister, Patricia Dunham and her husband, William Dunham.
.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for James on Monday, September 28, 2015, at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, in Derwood, MD. Interment will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
