Alvin Doras (Jack) Blue was born June 5, 1909 at Wichita, Kansas, the son of Richard Dayton and Sarah Elizabeth (Adkins) Blue. He moved to Isabel when he was a small boy. He attended school in Isabel through the 8th grade and then work to work for Emmit Pickering at the Golden Rule Station.
Jack married Viola Artemisha Oller on June 8, 1932 in Pratt, Kansas. She was was born in Abbyville, Kansas, August 30, 1912, one of thirteen children born to Russell Eugene and Bessie Pearl (Marteney) Oller.
Viola attended Fairview County School which was located between Isabel and Cunningham.
Jack and Viola's first established business was a cream station and grocery store on the first flood of the IOOF Hall. After three years they sold the business to Fred Hubner.
In 1943 Jack started a business with Earl Meairs called Meairs and Blue Appliance and Supply. Jack also operated a separate business called Blue's Salavage. Over the years he also operated a humburger stand, a fireworks stand every July, and he and Viola worked at the Kansas State Fair from 1947 to 1966. Jack also hauled seasonal fruits and vegetables to sell.
Jack was a member of the Isabel Odd Fellows Lodge # 416, Grandview Rebekah Lodge # 222 in Isabel and the Oddfellow Encampment in Pratt.
Jack was active in Law Enforcement and was Isabel City Marshall and a member of the Kansas Law Enforcement Academy. He also served as Barber County Undersheriff under Andy Stevenson.
Jack and Viola raised three daughters; Charlotte, Charlene and Jacklyn as well as a foster daughter Sherry Lee Kent.
April 5, 1967 Jack died in Wichita,Kansas of a massive heart attack. Viola remarried October 30, 1968 and still lives in Isabel.
