MERLE IRA BLUBAUGH, 90, of 414 Walnut St., Waynesboro, died at 10:35 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 1998, in his home. He had been
in falling health for the past two months.
Born Dec 17, 1907, in Tomstown, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Mentzer) Blubaugh. He lived all of his life in
Tomstown and Waynesboro.
He and his wife Arlene MaLinda (Stoops) Blubaugh, were married Jan. 13, 1951. They had lived at the present residence for the past 35 years.
Mr. Blubaugh was employed by Landis Machine Co., Waynesboro, for 49 years as a machine operator. During World War II, he instructed men on how to operate the machines. He retired June 21, 1971.
He was a member of William Max McLaughlin VFW Post 695, the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1191. Joe Stickell American
Legion Post 15, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1758, Eagles Club Inc. and the Order of the Owls Nest 1073, all of Waynesboro.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Phylis Croson, Carolyn Harbaugh and LuAnn Hardman, all. of Waynesboro;. Doris Ricker of Keedysville. Md; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; four sisters, Mae Siecrist of Quincy, Mary Haugh and Anna Monn, both of Tomstown, and Hilda Brubaker of Waynesboro; and a number of
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Noll and Marie Rosenberger, and three brothers, Jacob M. Blubaugh.
Henry Blubaugh and Chauncey Blubaugh.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro, with the Rev. James T. Williams officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery near Quincy.
